The story takes place in the late Shang Dynasty, a time when demons ran rampant, King Zhou was decadent and tyrannical, persecuting loyal officials, and the people were filled with discontent. It was an era of impending storms and hidden undercurrents. Lord Xibo, Ji Chang, angered King Zhou by speaking bluntly at court and was imprisoned in Zhaoge, but fortunately, he was rescued by the extraordinary strategist Jiang Ziya. Having narrowly escaped death, Ji Chang appointed Ziya as his prime minister, recruited heroes from across the land, and raised the banner of rebellion against the Shang Dynasty. Upon hearing the news, King Zhou flew into a rage and dispatched troops to attack Xiqi. Jiang Ziya led his generals in a courageous resistance. King Zhou’s extravagance knew no bounds, and the morale of the Shang army crumbled, while the Zhou army advanced with overwhelming momentum, capturing Tong Pass, setting fire to Juelong Ridge, and marching straight for Zhaoge. Seeing that all was lost, King Zhou set fire to the Star-Gazing Tower and perished in the flames. Ji Fa was proclaimed king, historically known as "King Wu of Zhou."
