1975, Warsaw. 43-year-old Kapuściński is an outstanding journalist, experienced and full of ideals, a defender of revolution and the people's interests. At the Polish Press Agency, he requests his superiors to send him to Angola in Africa. The country is engulfed in a bloody civil war on the eve of its independence. Kapuściński thus embarks on a suicidal journey straight into the heart of the war. Once again, he confronts the brutality of war, and for the first time, a sense of powerlessness arises within him. Angola brings him an unprecedented transformation: in Poland, he was a journalist, but upon returning from the battlefield, he becomes a writer.
