In the quiet night, a bright light flickers in the dark room. It turns out that the little mouse Jerry is stealing cheese. Though he is extra cautious, he is still secretly followed by the mischievous old cat Tom. Tom is in no hurry to catch him; instead, he repeatedly places heavy objects on Jerry's cheese to tease him. However, Tom is also a thief who steals from his own kind, and thus a new round of war between him and Jerry begins... This film is the second work in the "Tom & Jerry" series. Although the first film, *Puss Gets the Boots*, received an Oscar nomination, it had a lukewarm reception, preventing the two creators, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, from gaining MGM's support to produce the next cat-and-mouse animation. It wasn’t until some theaters in Dallas, Texas, strongly appealed that MGM gave the creators the green light. It was also from this film onward that Tom and Jerry officially became the names of the two main characters.
