On a crisp morning, Mickey Mouse sits in a corner of the forest, reading a book on how to train a pointer. He is very interested in the subject and, of course, hopes that his own dog, Pluto, can become a qualified pointer. Pluto naturally hopes to earn rewards from his master and is brimming with confidence, believing he can become a capable hunting dog. Shortly after, master and servant set off with a hunting rifle. Soon, they spot a flock of birds. Pluto completely ignores the commands and charges over in a chaotic mess, only to make a mess of things. Mickey scolds him harshly, but seeing Pluto so dejected, his heart softens. He then patiently begins teaching Pluto what a pointer should do.
