"Go, go, go, go—" I merely wished for this, wished for the world beyond this window. I only wished to be taken away by him. This is a story that unfolds in late summer, where girls keep leaping and falling, committing suicide one after another. Without warning, the girls suddenly jump from the rooftop of a ruined building into the sky, only to fall. Death is all that awaits them. These girls showed no abnormalities at school and were not friends with one another. With no connections between them and no reasons for suicide to be found, these inexplicable suicide incidents are continuously reported. Yet, only one person perceives the link within these events. That person is the highest-ranking puppeteer, a magician who never became a mage—Aozaki Tōko. Perhaps... "having no reason" is their commonality, followed by the distinction between floating and flying. The one investigating this series of suicides is Shiki Ryōgi, who possesses the "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception," the ability to see the lines of death in all things. For her, there is a reason she must be involved in this incident— More than her own unwanted ability (the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception), what concerns her is how her eyes have captured the ghosts of the girls dancing in the void. What could these ghosts be thinking? Perhaps it is the pity of comrades who have reached the same path, or perhaps the disgust of kin. Perhaps it is the hostility from those who threaten something important. In other words, it is a clear intent to kill. Thus, Shiki heads to the scene of that pitiful building, where an unknown someone awaits her, unfolding the prologue of a tightly woven trap.
