The Legend of Panhu The love between Panhu and Xinnü first blossomed in the present-day Luxi region of the Wuling Mountains. At that time, a white flood dragon plagued the Yuan River in the Wuling range, causing immense suffering among the people. To eliminate this threat, Panhu endured countless hardships and journeyed to the Shanhai Domain, a realm haunted by monsters, in search of the Pangu Axe—the very axe used by Pangu to cleave heaven from earth. It was in the Shanhai Domain that Panhu first met Xinnü. Later, the Huaxia tribe came under attack by the Quanrong tribe, who were controlled by the Wolf Demon. In this moment of crisis, Panhu stepped forward and helped the Huaxia tribe repel the Quanrong assault. Emperor Gaoxin granted Panhu's request and betrothed Xinnü to him, uniting the two tribes through marriage. After Panhu and Xinnü lived happily together for many years, the Wolf Demon, having regained its power, returned for revenge. To protect the safety of the tribe, Panhu sacrificed himself, perishing together with the Wolf Demon. Xinnü, in her endless longing, transformed into the "Xinnü Rock," waiting faithfully for Panhu's return.
