This 2-hour special was produced to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the "ONE PIECE" TV anime. It is the eighth TV special of "ONE PIECE" broadcast in the "Saturday PREMIUM" time slot. This work is a continuation of the series of re-animated versions based on famous arcs from the original manga. For this special, the selected famous arc is the "East Blue Saga" (the story is divided into: Luffy's Story, Zoro's Story, Usopp's Story, Sanji's Story, and Nami's Story), which has been re-animated into this special. The plot differs somewhat from the original. The theme song for this work is "We Are! for the new world ~With 100 friends~," which is also the first opening theme of the anime series. However, for this special, it is performed by Kitadani Hiroshi With 100 friends. At the age of 6, Luffy meets the pirate "Red-Haired" Shanks in Foosha Village. Luffy dreams of becoming a pirate and repeatedly asks Shanks to take him to sea, but Shanks refuses. One day, Luffy accidentally eats the Gum-Gum Fruit and is thrown into the sea by mountain bandits who come to cause trouble. Shanks rushes to save him but loses his left arm to a Sea King. To fulfill his promise to his childhood friend Kuina and become the world's greatest swordsman, Zoro agrees to Luffy's request and sets sail as a pirate. Usopp, who is prone to lying, always tricks the villagers by claiming pirates are coming. Unexpectedly, pirates actually arrive one day and set a trap to destroy the village. Fortunately, Luffy and the others come to the rescue, and after fighting alongside them, Usopp becomes their companion. Sanji shares a common dream with Zeff—to find the legendary sea "All Blue." Since childhood, he has worked as a chef under Zeff. After a series of twists and turns, Zeff recognizes Luffy's unwavering determination and suggests that Sanji leave with him. Nami was adopted by the marine Bellemere from a young age and dreams of drawing a map of the world with her own eyes. Unfortunately, her talent for mapmaking catches the eye of the wicked Arlong, captain of the Arlong Pirates.
