"Superman: The Animated Series" is an American television animated series starring DC Comics' flagship character, Superman. The series consists of 4 seasons with a total of 54 episodes. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, it aired on The WB from September 6, 1996, to February 12, 2000. Warner Bros. applied the same "more modern, more serious" animation style used for DC Comics' flagship characters, an approach that had already proven successful with "Batman: The Animated Series." Similar to the first season of "Batman: The Animated Series," the main opening "title" sequence for Superman does not feature an actual title card. The series was subject to minor or moderate edits on CBS and was later rerun on Toon Disney and Disney XD. The story is set in the same shared universe as "Batman: The Animated Series," designated as Earth-12.
