"The Old Man and the Sea" tells the story of Santiago, an elderly Cuban fisherman who, after eighty-four days without catching a single fish, finally hooks a giant marlin all by himself. However, the fish is so enormous that it drags his small boat out to sea for three days until it is exhausted and he manages to kill it. He ties the marlin to the side of his boat, but on the journey back, he is repeatedly attacked by sharks. By the time he returns to the harbor, only the head, tail, and backbone of the fish remain.
