Fatty, Tall Guy, and Shorty are three lazy brothers. One day, the three of them go together to plant trees. However, they don’t understand division of labor or cooperation. Tall Guy works hard digging holes, while Fatty and Shorty laze around on the side. Once Tall Guy finishes digging the holes, Shorty casually inserts the saplings, but because the holes are dug to varying depths—some too deep, some too shallow—the roots of the saplings cannot properly settle into the soil. Fatty follows right after to water them, but he uses a leaky ladle, so the saplings only get a few drips of water. Soon, the saplings dry up and die. Yet the three brothers do not learn their lesson and continue planting trees this way, causing all sorts of mishaps and jokes. When harvest season arrives, seeing others gather basket after basket of fruit, the three brothers finally begin to reflect.
