In the ancient city of Jiading four hundred years ago, the snow had yet to melt, and a cold wind blew fiercely. Yet at the tail end of this deep winter, spring brought with it a warm breath. Firecrackers echoed in every corner of the village, children played in front of their homes, while adults busied themselves replacing old door charms with new ones, welcoming the arrival of the new year. The thirtieth day passed, and on the first day of the new year, early in the morning, the renowned scholar Tang Shisheng of Jiading sat upright in his home, as students from near and far flocked to the Tang residence to pay their New Year respects to their teacher. The old man cared not for the wealth or poverty of his visitors, offering only a New Year's stew made from vegetables grown in his own garden, allowing them to savor the simplest of flavors. Today, people have long forgotten the details of traditional New Year celebrations. Through this short film, we are granted a glimpse into the profound human warmth and principles of hundreds of years ago...
