The first Swedish cartoonist to publish a comic collection in the United States, Max Andersson, co-directs with Helena Ahonen a film about the wandering journey of a zombie statue of the Yugoslav political fanatic Marshal Josip Broz Tito. Max Andersson is renowned for his eerie artistic style, with his comic collections "PIXY" and "Death & Candy" holding significant acclaim in the comic world. In "Tito On Ice," the puppets and the materials for the quasi-animated scenes are all sourced from recycled trash. They dress the zombie general in a dignified and imposing military uniform, place discarded cigarette butts into his menacing mouth, and travel with this "device art" to the former Yugoslav regions where Marshal Tito once carried out brutal massacres to consolidate his power. This humorous "journey of repentance" offers deeper reflections on the ruthlessness of war and fallen dictators, prompting us to contemplate freedom on a more profound level.
