In 1941, Fleischer Studios released its second animated feature film, "Mr. Bug Goes to Town," which tells the story of an insect homeland destroyed by humans. A grasshopper leads everyone on a migration into the city, protecting his beloved little bee along the way and fending off attacks from beetles and their minions—mosquitoes and flies. Before the film's release, the Pearl Harbor incident occurred, leading to mediocre box office performance. Due to financial difficulties, the Fleischer brothers sold Fleischer Studios to Paramount, marking the gradual decline of Disney's biggest competitor from the 1930s. In 1951, the film was released in Japan, leaving a beautiful childhood memory for Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki. In 2009, the Ghibli Museum introduced the film, leading to its re-release in Japan.
