Adapted from the story by Edgar Allan Poe. A plague ravages the world, yet within the castle, Count Prospero and his decadent courtiers continue their wild revelry. Thus, the plague carries out its sinister work in a mysterious manner. The Gothic essence of the original must be blended with the eerie atmosphere of the Zagreb School to achieve the best possible adaptation. The Red Death can transform into various figures, now on its way to the party to claim the king’s life—much like the sorrowful gloom of the palace, the jester’s lute-playing, the soul-stirring allure of the realm of death. The king ultimately falls victim to beauty, while the Red Death, ever elusive, weaves yet another legend for the mortal world.
