Sylvester the Cat (voiced by Mel Blanc) spends his days terrorizing and chasing Tweety Bird, constantly scheming to turn the little canary into his next meal. But one day, an old cat changes his life. The clumsy feline joins a correctional group for birds-addicted cats, and after a period of treatment and counseling, Sylvester returns home with a brand-new outlook. He shows unprecedented friendliness toward Tweety, leading the bird to believe he can finally rest easy. However, a cat is still a cat. Sylvester gradually finds himself unable to resist the torment of his bird-eating desires. Time and again, he extends his claws toward Tweety, only to painfully withdraw them each time. Torn between his nature and his newfound beliefs, the hapless cat is driven nearly to the brink of madness... This film won the 1958 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
