As night falls, Mr. Magoo, whose vision seems less than sharp, closes his front door and heads out to catch a movie. He arrives at the cinema entrance but apparently fails to notice the relevant signs, ending up at the adjacent airport instead. Mr. Magoo walks into the terminal, glances at a poster on the wall advertising a three-day trip to Hawaii, and cleverly misreads "3 d" (3 days) as "3D." Eager to experience this newfangled thing, he buys a ticket from an automated machine and boards a flight to Hawaii along with a group of tourists. The cabin lights dim, and Mr. Magoo cheerfully chats with a black-suited man carrying a briefcase seated beside him. Just then, a detective appears, whispering with a flight attendant in an attempt to apprehend a thief. Mr. Magoo watches it all unfold, completely convinced that everything is part of the movie's plot... This film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 27th Academy Awards.
