12-year-old blue cat Gumball is a student at Elmore Junior High. He has poor grades and often fails exams, but his cheerful personality and simple-minded nature frequently lead him into all sorts of trouble unintentionally. Gumball's best friend Darwin is an orange goldfish who was originally the family pet. Ever since he grew legs one day, he officially became a member of the household. Darwin is innocent and simple-minded, and though not very bright, he is Gumball's most loyal sidekick. Pink rabbit Anais is Gumball's younger sister. Though only 4 years old, she is the smartest member of the family. When their mother is out, she is basically the one in charge of the house. Mother Nicole is the one who looks most like Gumball in the family. Gentle and responsible, she gives the impression of a perfect mom—only she becomes truly terrifying when she gets angry.
