The young boy Carl Fredricksen, filled with a passion for adventure, meets the tomboy Ellie. Ellie turns the entire house into a giant spaceship game, which actually makes him somewhat fascinated with this girl. Their shared interests ultimately lead them to become lifelong partners. They share a dream: to one day explore the "Paradise Falls" in South America. However, this dream remains unfulfilled even after Ellie passes away. Finally, one day, the elderly Carl, who once sold balloons for a living, uses a multitude of colorful balloons to lift his house into the sky. He decides to fulfill the dream they never achieved. To Carl's surprise, a young boy named Russell, who calls himself a "Wilderness Explorer," ends up on his porch. Russell's constant chatter makes Carl particularly annoyed with this chubby kid. The odd pair, one old and one young, endure countless hardships during their flight and finally lay eyes on the legendary "Paradise Falls." Through their time together, Carl discovers that Russell is actually an endearing child. While trekking through a forest, they encounter Kevin, a large flightless bird, and Dug, a talking dog. To the old man's astonishment, they also meet his childhood idol—the explorer Charles Muntz. Moreover, he discovers that Muntz is actually a villain who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. At this moment, the old man is just one step away from his dreamland... This film won two Academy Awards at the 82nd Oscars: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score.
