Following "Fritz the Cat," Ralph Bakshi presents another restricted animation, blending cartoon and live-action sequences, with his later artistic style beginning to take shape. Blacks, Jews, and Italian immigrants scheme and clash against each other, while men and women navigate the turbulent world of carnal desires. An Italian hustler and a Black prostitute persist in seeking a way out of the slums, encountering a bizarre array of characters as surreal as a pinball game. The film sharply exposes the urban vices of New York and the civilizational abyss of its racially mixed society.
