This film is a two-dimensional illustration-style animation that perfectly blends the music of the great rock band The Beatles with pop visual art. Throughout the movie, 15 classic Beatles songs are interspersed. The story follows Beatles member Paul McCartney, who, in a half-dream state, arrives in Pepperland—a place that despises music and is suffering from an invasion by the Blue Meanies. The old Captain Fred rallies The Beatles members to board the Yellow Submarine and defend Pepperland together. 　　 Beatles music runs through the entire film: the opening uses George Martin’s orchestral arrangements to depict the peaceful Pepperland, followed by Ringo Starr’s performance of "Yellow Submarine," symbolizing the vitality of Pepperland’s people. However, the peace is short-lived as the villainous Blue Meanies begin to destroy Pepperland’s joy and tranquility. The old captain summons The Beatles members to "Come Together" and join forces to fight the Blue Meanies. Dressed as Pepperland soldiers, The Beatles defeat the enemy to the tune of "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band," upholding their belief that "All You Need Is Love," and ultimately saving Pepperland.
