After moving into her new home, the little girl Coraline finds the shabby and lifeless environment utterly boring. With dull and rigid parents, strange neighbors, and an annoying little boy and his black cat, life for someone as imaginative as her is simply unbearable. However, things aren’t always so bad. One night, she actually discovers a secret passage behind the 13th door in her house. Ever the thrill-seeking adventurer, Coraline naturally doesn’t pass up the chance to explore it, so she slowly crawls through the passage. On the other side, Coraline finds a world that is both identical to and different from reality—everything seems replicated here, yet all her dreams come true in this place. What makes Coraline happiest of all is that in this world, her "Other Mother" is kind, affectionate, and indulges her every whim. But later, she discovers that this "Other Mother" plans to replace her eyes and keep her forever in this "wonderful" world. Realizing she is in grave danger, Coraline must find a way to escape the clutches of the "Other Mother."
