A sequel to "Space Battleship Yamato 2199," which modernized the classic SF anime masterpiece "Space Battleship Yamato" and was released through event screenings, television broadcasts, and theatrical releases from 2012 to 2014. This is Chapter 1 of the seven-part series, comprising Episode 1: "AD 2202: Revive, Space Battleship Yamato" and Episode 2: "Tension: Infiltrate the Lunar Embassy." Three years have passed since the voyage to Iscandar. Earth, revived by the Cosmo Reverse System, has signed a peace treaty with the Gamilas Empire and is striving toward reconstruction. However, the threat of Gatlantis, which dominates space, now looms over Earth. Written and series-composed by Harutoshi Fukui, known for "The Princess and the Pilot" and "Mobile Suit Gundam UC," the story expands upon the 1978 "Farewell, Space Battleship Yamato: In the Name of Love" while weaving a new narrative. Character design is once again handled by Nobuteru Yūki, following "2199," with new director Nobuyoshi Habara, known for "Break Blade" and "Fafner in the Azure," taking the helm.
