Continuing from the blockbuster first installment "Madagascar," Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, and their friends, stranded on a deserted island, decide to modify an abandoned plane perched on a tree stump to escape the uninhabited island. At first, everything goes smoothly, and the group of animals happily celebrates their imminent return to the dazzling lights of New York aboard the plane. However, they soon crash-land in the vast grasslands, arriving at the animal paradise "Africa." Not only that, but Alex the lion encounters his own kind here, only to realize that his long stay in the zoo has stripped him of his innate communication skills. How will this group of foreign animals, who are essentially tourists, adapt to their new environment? Will they ever make it back to New York, and how many laughs will they generate along the way?
