Directed for the first time by Yoshitaka Amano. In the deep darkness of the primordial universe, a sudden flash streaks across—the Big Bang. Within the vortex of light, a battle erupts between the Light Clan, led by the Twelve Divine Generals who protect the Truth Universe (Guardian Deities of Light), and the Dark Destruction Clan, led by Mourning Demon (Dark Ruling God). Before long, the Divine Generals are gradually defeated by the growing forces of darkness and vanish into the far ends of time and space. The world, along with human memory, sinks into chaos. —In the era of the Boshin War, a samurai wanders the battlefield. This is ZAN. Having lost his memory, he seems to be fleeing from something, yet also feels drawn deep into the mountains. Suddenly appearing before ZAN is the guardian of the Nioh Gate, Nioh (Bea). To protect the girl guiding him, ZAN engages in battle and soon hears the call of the black panther, Pansha, sealed deep within the Nioh Gate in the Galactic Waterfall. He then realizes his own destiny. The unsealed Pansha reveals to ZAN that both he and Bea are reincarnations of the former Divine Generals. Thus, ZAN and his companions embark on a journey across time and space to rescue the Divine Generals sealed in the ancient war and revive the Light Clan. Transcending time and space, ZAN gathers a group of companions, and the Divine Generals of Light gradually revive. Through numerous battles, ZAN and his friends grow stronger, but the chaos in the world intensifies! The time comes for a final confrontation with the Dark Destruction Clan led by Mourning Demon. Relying on the power gained through their journey and reincarnation, ZAN, his companions, and the Divine Generals of Light defeat the Dark Destruction Clan. —However, due to the overwhelming power of Mourning Demon, who reappears once more, time and space are plunged into darkness, and all realms fall under the control of evil forces. To defeat Mourning Demon, ZAN decides to venture alone into the darkness, using all his power to shatter the dark spacetime. —What will he encounter soon after falling into the darkness—!?
