The Man in the Lower-Left Hand Corner of the Photograph

An elderly man lives alone in a dilapidated apartment, surrounded by an atmosphere of decay. Insects wriggle in the drawers, and the old man places a piece of meat inside to feed these humble little creatures. 　　The noise from next door startles the old man, who is accustomed to his routine life. Peering through a hole in the wall, he sees a naked elderly woman on the other side. Bereft of her partner and facing a bleak twilight of life, the old woman can no longer endure the loneliness of her remaining days. Under the old man’s gaze, she hangs herself. The old man enters the neighboring room, takes the old woman’s photograph and her corpse, stuffs the body under his bed, and then releases the insects onto it. The next day, the insects and the corpse merge into one, and the old woman is resurrected, returning to the world. Two lonely souls cling to each other in this bizarre manner as they walk through the remainder of their lives...
