A three-year short film project, this time from Russia, a country we rarely feature. Pencil Head is an animated music video that began in 2008, initiated by Russian animator Qwaqa, and took three years to complete.
This astonishing work was entirely created using pencils and hand-drawn techniques. While many of its shots may seem familiar, the sheer workload of relying solely on pencils without other technical aids is truly staggering. For example, the slow-motion bullet scene alone required 232 hand-drawn frames!
We won’t dwell further on the incredible effort behind this film—you’ll see it for yourself. It’s guaranteed to be a visual feast!
In addition to releasing this animation, creator Qwaqa also launched an official website simultaneously: pencilhead.me. There, you can find various versions of the video and related materials—though accessing them might require a bit of clever thinking~
