The latest short film "Paper Heart" by Russian animator Qwaqa, which references the female protagonist Konno Makoto and male protagonist Mamiya Chiaki from the 11th district director Mamoru Hosoda's animated film "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time," has garnered widespread attention on YouTube.
The short film employs Qwaqa's signature pencil hand-drawn style, combined with real-life scenery, creating an illusion for viewers of transitioning from the 2D world into the 3D world. The title of the short film is "Paper Heart"—the human heart is as fragile as paper. Just as expressed in the animated film, there are certain junctures in everyone's life where memories come to a halt. Of course, we are always moving forward, compelled to do so, carrying all our glory, brokenness, simplicity, and happiness along the way. But you know, you are not whole. A part of you is intercepted by time; she waves goodbye to you, forever remaining there. The remaining part always tries to look back and search for those fragments, but for the female protagonist Makoto in the film: "Time does not flow backward; only you yourself return to the past."
