In the year 2079 of the Western calendar, mysterious mechanical cell clusters suddenly launched a worldwide campaign to exterminate humanity. After two long years of desperate resistance, humanity, pushed to the brink, deployed a final weapon of mass destruction. To annihilate the enemy, they were willing to sacrifice vast stretches of their own nations' territories. As a result, the major continents were shattered into several fragments, the Antarctic continent vanished, and over 50% of the Earth's landmass was submerged beneath the sea. Three years passed in this state... Then came reports that the enemy, believed to have been completely eradicated, had suddenly returned... To verify the truth of these reports, a secret aerial cruiser, the "Kōryū," secretly departed from Japan. The "Kōryū" was a fighter craft embodying Japan's most advanced design philosophies, equipped with sonic boosters. It comprised three units: "Zero God," "Wind God," and "Thunder God." Piloting these sonic boosters were three young girls: Otono Otoha, Sonomiya Karen, and Ichijō Eika. These three were the pilots known as the SKY GIRLS. The future and hope of humanity rested entirely in their hands... The time to take flight has arrived!
