on the water

"on the water" took seven months to complete and served as Zhao Yi's graduation project upon finishing his studies at the Saint Just School of Art and Design. The short film employs a simple production technique, yet within eight minutes, it narrates the journey of a person's life—experiencing growth, joys, sorrows, and partings. The cinematography and artistic style of the short film bear traces of the Dutch animation master Michael Dudok, while its thought process and outlook on life retain an Eastern essence.
