The OVA is based on the manga "Chuhai Lemon," serialized in a seinen manga magazine, created by the duo of Shō Shimumura (story) and Tsutomu Shinohara (art). It is a love comedy action series sprinkled with hard-boiled elements. Unlike previous OVAs, this work is characterized by its use of newly recorded BGM featuring oldies songs from the '60s, such as "Ame ni Nurete mo."
Goro Tatsumi is a 36-year-old detective—rugged, clumsy, and so tall that he stands out more than anyone, yet utterly ordinary. A long-time widower, he finds himself approached by Maki Fujita, a high school girl raised in Asakusa. Still only 16 and naive, Maki sees the rough-around-the-edges Tatsumi, who resembles a "chuhai" (shochu highball), and decides she wants to be the refreshing "lemon" for him.
The protagonist, Goro Tatsumi, is voiced by actor Kōnosuke Sera. The animation was handled by studios like Tsuchida Pro, with direction, animation supervision, and other key roles undertaken by veteran powerhouse animator Kenzo Koizumi.
