Impromptu

This short animation explores the redemptive power of food, wine, music, and love through the eyes of our protagonist, Chuck. A husband and father, Chuck is cheerfully preparing dinner while listening to Chopin when his wife, Sylvie, spontaneously invites a group of boisterous colleagues over for a meal. The festivities quickly spiral out of control, and Chuck must navigate his way through a planned intimate dinner for two that has descended into pandemonium. Filmmaker Bruce Alcock follows in the fine tradition of beloved food-centric films like *Babette’s Feast*, using the preparation of a meal as a vehicle to explore grand themes of love and life through simple yet evocative line drawings.
