Haruka Nanase has a special connection with water—touching it, feeling it. In the medley relay at the final competition of his elementary school years, alongside Makoto Tachibana, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rin Matsuoka, Haruka reached a "sight he had never seen before"—. Then, in spring, with cherry blossoms in full bloom, Haruka enters Iwatobi Middle School together with Makoto, and a new life begins. Haruka and Makoto join the swimming club, and along with Asahi Shiina and Ikuya Kirishima, the four of them end up forming a medley relay team aiming for competition. Four individuals with different ways of thinking and different goals. And each of them carries their own worries. Amidst this, they continue practicing for the relay, yet things don’t go smoothly… What is needed to truly become a "team"? What will Haruka, still haunted by the medley relay of the past, think in this new place—? Depicting how they gradually come to understand each other and discover new feelings through swimming—[High☆Speed! –Free! Starting Days–]. The fresh youth of these boys, their future dedicated to swimming, begins now.
