Ordinary high school girl Ayatsuki Mei finds herself transported to the Meiji-era Tokyo, a world where spirits dwell, after encountering a self-proclaimed magician named Charlie at a festival on a night when the crimson full moon shone brightly.
Though bewildered, Mei is aided by the leading cultural figures of the Meiji era whom she meets at the Rokumeikan—Mori Ōgai, Hishida Shunsō, Kawakami Otojirō, Izumi Kyōka, Koizumi Yakumo, and Fujita Gorō—and manages to settle in until the next full moon, when she may return to her own time.
While living at the okiya (geisha house) that has taken her in and spending her busy days as a sake-pouring attendant, Mei eventually learns that she is a "Tamayori"—someone who can see spirits.
Around her, incidents involving spirits begin to occur...
A new serenade unfolds, centering on Kyōka's story.
The tale of Meiji Tokyo Renka begins—!
