The original work was published in the summer of 1966 in "Weekly Shōnen Sunday Special Summer Vacation Manga Special Issue," and was included in Volume 17 of the Akebono Publishing Comics as "Tennōsuika Banzaiyo" (in the Takeshobo edition, it was included in Volume 16 and retitled "Suika Seijin Arawaru"). However, while the opening scenes of Suika Planet and the catchphrases of the Suika Aliens ("~Suika," "~Tane," "Ai Ai Sassā Choi Sassā") are close to the original, the rest is thoroughly rearranged.
Within the story, parodies of Toei works are featured, such as Totoko attempting to transform using a compact like 'Akko,' and Chibita dressing up like Seiya.
At the time, following the end of 'O-mawari-san de Ibaru Zansu!,' Chibita explained in the next-episode preview that it would become a movie.
It was released on video software by Toei Video and received its first DVD release on May 21, 2011, as part of the "Fujio Akatsuka DVD Collection."
