This is the story of how 16-year-old Shiki Ryōgi and Mikiya Kokutō met when they were still high school students. Shiki, who had always wanted to avoid any connection with others, caught Mikiya's attention, and he wished to form some kind of bond with her. At the time, he didn't realize it was love. Soon, they began to share a little common space, and his days were indeed very peaceful. —Until a series of bizarre murders appeared in the town. One day, Mikiya encountered a person named Shiki, another personality residing within Shiki's body. The affirmative Shiki and the negative Shiki. Two Shikis, opposite yet sharing the same way of thinking and preferences, gradually became more and more confusing for Mikiya. Thus, a premonition arose in Mikiya's heart. Who was the one committing the bizarre murders night after night? Of course, a premonition was just a premonition, not a fact. Unless he witnessed the act of killing with his own eyes, he couldn't believe it. To confirm this premonition, he secretly made a resolution — but by the time he reached the truth of the murder investigation, three years had already passed. The conditions for gathering clues at the Ryōgi household, the unknown relationship between the "Shikis," and the girl standing in a pool of blood—unbeknownst to him, the opening of the second chapter had already begun to guide the trajectory of Shiki and Mikiya's fates.
