The story of "Meet the Robinsons" is adapted from the illustrated children's book by William Joyce, originally titled "A Day With Wilbur Robinson." This highly imaginative picture book is actually quite simple in content—it follows a boy named Lewis as he visits the family of his friend Wilbur, who comes from the future. Each relative has their own unique quirks, making Lewis's day truly extraordinary. Such a simple story, of course, isn't easy to adapt directly into a film, so the Disney movie version adds much richer content. While preserving the distinctive traits of the original book's characters, it also includes many more surprising story elements.
