At the 2006 Angoulême International Comics Festival, Marguerite Abouet won the Best First Comic Book Award for "Aya de Yopougon," which later became her representative work—an adult comic depicting the lives of ordinary people in Africa. This year, we are fortunate to witness the release of the animated film "Aya de Yopougon," co-directed by Marguerite and her husband.
