On a boring, lazy day, Tom lies on the sofa, legs crossed, reading the newspaper. When the lady of the house passes by, he pretends to be obedient, lying on the floor asleep to lull her into a false sense of security. Suddenly, a news article catches his eye: a pet store has posted an advertisement offering a high price for a white mouse. Seeing the chance for easy money, Tom hatches a plan. He lures Jerry out with fake cheese, paints him white, and sells him to the pet store. Greedily, Tom takes the money home, hides it under the rug beneath the sofa, and begins dreaming of a life of luxury. Little does he know, the lady of the house discovers the money and decides to go out shopping.
Tom is utterly miserable, but even greater misery awaits him—because what the lady brings home is none other than that fake white mouse: Tom's old nemesis, Jerry...
