西岳奇童

"Xi Yue Qi Tong" is a film produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio, remade from the popular 1985 animated movie of the same name. The story is based on the folk myth "Splitting the Mountain to Save the Mother." It tells of young Chenxiang studying with other children at a school at the foot of a mountain. After class, Chenxiang steps out of the classroom and encounters his classmate Qin Bao, who is bullying others with his influence. Chenxiang stands up for justice and teaches him a harsh lesson. Qin Bao retorts, "Chenxiang has no mother; your mother is a demon!" Heartbroken, little Chenxiang returns home and asks his father for his mother. His father, Liu Yanchang, reluctantly tells him that his mother is the Three Saints Princess, who was imprisoned under Lotus Peak by Yang Jian. Liu Yanchang takes out the "Chenxiang Treasure Belt" left by the princess for their son, and Chenxiang resolves to leave home in search of his mother. He crosses mountains and ridges, overcoming numerous dangers, and eventually finds Aunt Zhaoxia. Aunt Zhaoxia reveals to him how Yang Jian stole the princess's Magic Lotus Lantern and harmed Liu Yanchang and his son. Filled with hatred for his uncle, Chenxiang is determined to rescue his mother from under Lotus Peak. Aunt Zhaoxia guides Chenxiang to apprentice under the Great Immortal Thunderbolt. To test Chenxiang's sincerity, the Great Immortal deliberately immerses him in a world of pleasure. However, Chenxiang remains preoccupied with his suffering mother and pleads with the Great Immortal to teach him skills. The Great Immortal makes Chenxiang consume nine bulls and two tigers, granting him immense strength. He then tells little Chenxiang that to defeat Yang Jian, reclaim the Magic Lotus Lantern, and save his mother, he must study with him for three more years. Eager to rescue his mother, Chenxiang diligently trains on his own. Eventually, he becomes capable of carrying small mountains, shattering bronze bells, and kicking down large trees. Thus, Chenxiang sets off with the treasure belt left by his mother to save her...
