In the East Sea lies the herb of immortality, and the Eight Immortals each display their divine powers: Iron-Crutch Li transforms into a boat, Han Zhongli treads upon a fan, Lü Dongbin paves a golden path, and He Xiangu rides a lotus, while the rest employ their magic to journey together. The Dragon King of the East Sea dispatches the Third Prince, armed with the Sea-Calming Divine Iron, to intercept them. The Eight Immortals engage in a fierce battle and break through, ultimately retrieving the immortal herb. From then on, "The Eight Immortals Cross the Sea" became an allusion encouraging people to unite and overcome difficulties together.
