"Frankenweenie" is adapted from Burton's 1984 short film of the same name and is also the first Disney animated film produced with Burton's involvement.
This film is shot in black-and-white stop-motion and will later be converted into 3D. To match the storyline, over 200 puppets and props were created.
After young Victor's beloved dog Sparky is hit by a car and dies, he is heartbroken. During a school lesson, when his teacher conducts an experiment using electricity to make a frog's nerves twitch, Victor gets the inspiration to revive his dog. That night, he harnesses lightning from the sky to electrocute the dog's corpse, bringing it back to life. The resurrected dog terrifies Victor's neighbors, who see it as a monster. While chasing the dog, the neighbors corner Victor and the dog in a small wooden shed, accidentally setting it on fire and nearly burning them alive. However, the dog saves Victor but dies in the process. Touched by this, the neighbors and Victor's parents decide to revive the dog once more. They use a car engine to generate electricity and successfully bring the dog back to life again...
