"Recess" centers on a group of ordinary elementary school students from Third Street School. Through the perspectives of these close friends, it recounts various amusing stories that take place in the classroom, on the playground, and at home. The series skillfully addresses the many challenges they face while growing up, using these narratives to reveal the true meaning of growth and the value of friendship to young viewers watching at home. It also fosters qualities such as critical thinking, courage to stand up for what is right, and fearlessness in the face of challenges.
In 2000, "Recess" won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program. A year later, Disney adapted it into an animated film titled "Summer Adventure," which focuses on the many interesting experiences the children from Third Street School encounter during their summer break.
