During the Northern Song Dynasty, Lin Mo of Meizhou Island mastered secret arts and courageously rescued victims of sea disasters, exorcised evil spirits, and vanquished monsters, earning the deep trust of the people. The Dragon King of the East Sea, wary of her growing prestige, stirred up storms and waves to besiege the island. To protect all living beings, Lin Mo sacrificed herself to confront the threat, ultimately falling in battle from exhaustion. For her great act of compassion, she was enshrined as the sea goddess Mazu, becoming the revered guardian deity of the seas for generations to come.
