11-year-old Mary dreams of becoming a world-class chef, but only her grandmother supports her at home. After her grandmother falls seriously ill, Mary becomes irritable and rebellious—until she meets a mysterious ghost. Adapted from the work of the same name by Irish "laureate novelist" Roddy Doyle, this film brings together production teams from seven European countries. Italian animation master Enzo D'Alò weaves together the love, loss, and death of four generations of women connected by blood, using exquisite artwork and pencil sketches to construct dreams. The humorous and witty tone is always tinged with an inescapable touch of sorrow, like a letter written to one's future self.
