"The Lost Letter" is a Soviet animated film from 1945. It is the first feature-length film produced by Soyuzmultfilm Studio and the first major success of the Brumberg sisters[1]. It is based on the novella of the same name by Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol, incorporating elements from his stories "The Enchanted Place" and "The Fair at Sorochyntsi"[2]. The filmmakers successfully captured the distinct national Ukrainian flavor and recreated the magical, fairy-tale atmosphere characteristic of the writer's work[3].
