"Špalíček" is the first feature-length puppet animation by Jiří Trnka, a pioneer in the history of puppet animation. The film is divided into six segments, each telling stories that unfold across the four seasons, showcasing the folk costumes and customs passed down for centuries in the Czech countryside. Without any dialogue, the film relies on adorable and intricate puppets, beautiful settings and costumes, as well as Czech folk songs performed by a children's choir to convey its meaning and emotions directly to the audience's hearts.
