"Yakari" is a European comic series that has been a bestseller since its debut in 1973. The animated series of the same name has two versions from 1983 and 2005, with the 2005 version airing for over a decade. Xavier Giacometti, the director of the 2005 animated series, makes his feature film directorial debut with this first animated movie in the "Yakari universe." The film follows Yakari, a young Sioux boy who can understand animal speech, as he sets out on a quest to find a legendary horse. Expanding on the original content and incorporating mythological elements, the movie portrays the pure friendship between animals and humans.
