Young boy Doto's father, a pilot, tragically sacrificed his life in the war. His father's old comrade-in-arms, who also lost his left leg in the war, stayed behind in Sicily and became a shoemaker. Winters turned to springs, and Doto kept hoping for their return, but they never appeared. The war finally ended in a cold winter. A soldier in a wheelchair and a woman came to "Dad" to pick up shoes. When the woman took out that photo, everyone fell silent...
