Death is not the end of the story; a corpse can also become the start of a journey. A body washes ashore by the riverbank, its decaying flesh splitting open to reveal a tiny, human-like soul. The soul walks along the shore, encounters a white horse soul, and together they follow a mysterious red light to a captivating carnival of the dead. This is the gathering place for all souls—humans, animals, saints—all performing entwined, frenzied, ecstatic, and serene elegies. And after the carnival ends, where will the souls go next? Much like the Dutch painter Bosch’s *Garden of Earthly Delights*, this work uses rich religious imagery and classical symbols to depict a fantastical, bizarre, unsettling, yet irresistibly captivating paradise of souls.
