"Magyar Folk Tales" is a Hungarian television animated series that aired from 1980 to 2012. The concept originated in the mind of studio director Ferenc Mikulás. The designer, director, and expert was Marcell Jankovics. "Magyar Folk Tales" (since 1977) ingeniously adapts unforgettable folk tale stories, weaving the original humor of the tales with a touch of visual wit. It is one of the greatest successes of the Pannónia Film Studio's Kecskemét Workshop, hailing from the golden age of domestic animation production. According to Ferenc Mikulás, the spirit of the times contributed to the series' creation, as ethnographic themes became popular during that period. Additionally, a factor was that the young film studio initially had limited financial resources for scripts. Another important aspect was the preservation of the treasures of peasant culture cherished by the creators. The series, which consists of 100 episodes, was produced until 2011 by Kecskemétfilm, which had by then transformed into a limited liability company.
